Studied Ancient History, Medieval History, Latin Philology and Political Science at the University of Münster. Magister Artium 1999. 2000-2003 Adademic staff in the SFB 493 "Funktionen von Religion in antiken Gesellschaften des Vorderen Orients". PhD 2003. January to August 2004 Academic staff at the seminar of Ancient History at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University Münster. From December 2004 academic staff, since October 2007 Akademischer Rat, since 2012 Akademischer Oberrat in the Department of Ancient History at the LMU. Habilitation at LMU in summer 2020 with a thesis on the figure of the exilee in ancient Rome (published 2023 as "Exil und Raum im Antiken Rom" in the series "Vestigia").
Main areas of research: Roman legal history, rhetoric, the Early Imperial period, Early Rome.
Other positions, honours and roles: Since 2016, Chair of the Board of the non-profit Elise and Annemarie Jacobi Foundation (supporting early-career scholars in the field of Ancient History); since 2022 Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute; co-initiator of the DFG-funded research network “Norm and Narration in Ancient Societies”
