Research interests

My main areas of interest and research are Late Antiquity, early Christianity and the social history of the various cultures of the Roman Mediterranean world and their interactions. I am also concerned with the history of ideas and the politics of conflict in social, military and religious contexts. My research revolves around multipolar systems of norms in ancient cultures and the ways in which these norms functioned together or in competition with each other.
