Studied History, History of the 19th and 20th Jahrhunderts and Philosophy at the University of Bielefeld, studied abroad at the University of Exeter (1995-1996): Magister 2003 (sehr gut); PhD 2008 (summa cum laude; Dissertation title: "Marc Aurel – Philosophie und politische Macht zur Zeit der Zweiten Sophistik"); 2005-2008 "Academic teaching qualification programme"; 2006-2008 Women's Mentoring Programme for junior researchers ("plan m") at the University of Bremen: Mentor Prof. Dr. Aleida Assmann.
Habilitation project: The Ancient Near East and the Rise of Athenian Democracy.

Academic positions: University of Bielefeld (2003-2004) and University of Bremen (2005-2015); Visiting Scholar an der Columbia University, New York (2014-2015); Associate Junior Fellow at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (2014-2016).

Since August 2015 part of the research staff of Prof. Dr. Karen Radner.
