Studied History and Classical Archaeology at the FU Berlin. 1995: Magister Artium (Title: "Zur Geschichte und politischen Programmatik der weströmischen Usurpatoren [350-425 n. Chr.]"). 1998: PhD (Title: "Die Münzprägung der mysischen Stadt Germe in der römischen Kaiserzeit"). 2005: Habilitation at the University of Augsburg (Title: "Untersuchungen zur Geschichte der späten Seleukiden [164-63 v. Chr.]. Vom Tode des Antiochos IV. bis zur Einrichtung der Provinz Syria unter Pompeius").

Academic positions: From January 1999 to January 2000: Assistent curator at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (co-curation of the exhibition project: "Das fünfte Element - Geld oder Kunst"). From October 1999 to March 2002: academic staff of Professor Ruprecht Ziegler at the Gerhard-Mercator-University GH Duisburg (as part of the DFG-funded project: "Gottheiten und Kulte als Indikatoren von Akkulturationsprozessen im Ebenen Kilikien"). From  1. March 2002 to 31. May 2007: part of the academic staff at the State Coin Collection in Munich. Since 1999: Additional teaching staff at the Department of Ancient History at the LMU Munich. Since 2006: Editor of the Jahrbuch für Numismatik und Geldgeschichte.

Since 1. June 2007 curator of Greek, Roman, and Celtic coins, as well as ancient cut stones at the State Coin Collection in Munich.
